I visited the junction at Ridgewood and the Forrest Road on the 10th of April 2018 where there was severe traffic delay in the area due to roadworks.

I observed the traffic system was not good enough to deal with the traffic, I suggested that the traffic system was inadequate to manage the volume of traffic and that the contractor should deploy three men with walkie talkies and stop go signs to manage the traffic at peak times,. please see below a response from the council to local councillor’s.who made representations.

Dear Councillor,

As you are aware, there were significant  issues regarding the traffic management at Ridgewood/Forest Road yesterday and earlier today. Irish Water are working with the contractor to resolve the traffic management issues for the remainder of this section in order to deliver this key project which will provide a long term solution to the history of Water Main bursts in the area.

Our Traffic Section have been liaising today with Irish Water and the contractor and the following traffic management restrictions are now agreed and in place for the remainder of this week:

Tuesday 10th April – Temporary traffic lights will be removed and the standard permanent traffic lights will be in use from 4pm today, facilitating normal two-way traffic flows.

Wednesday 11th April – Working hours are restricted to 10am to 4pm, with manual stop/go system for the duration.  Outside of working hours, two-way traffic flows will be in place.

Thursday 12th April – Works will be restricted to the footpath, with no impact on traffic flow.  A pedestrian management plan will be in place to facilitate the safe passage of pedestrians at the works location. Friday 13th April – Works will be restricted to the footpath, with no impact on the traffic flow.  A pedestrian management plan will be in place to facilitate the safe passage of pedestrian at the works location.

If there is any further information regarding traffic and pedestrian management at this location for the duration of works we will update you.

Kind regards,
