Swords Summer Festival returning for third year 20th to 23rd July

After the success of Flavours of Fingal it is time to get ready for our next great festival Swords Summer Festival 2017.  The festival is bigger and better this year and will take place over four days from July 20th to 23rd. Fingal Events team have put together a programme to suit all tastes with lots of free family entertainment as well as music, drama, history, and of course the Fingal 10K with more than 4000 runners.

This year’s festival kicks on Thursday 20th July with a performance of The Promise Musical Drama in Swords Castle.  The Promise is a romantic musical drama inspired by the events of the Irish Rebellion of 1798 .
Friday 21st  will see the return of the Swords Lions Club fundraiser, this year featuring the Rat Pack live in the marquee in Swords Castle at 8pm, tickets €25.
Saturday 22nd  is the Swords Massive Day out.
As the name says, this is a massive day out for all the family with Main Street family entertainment and Swords Town Park Fairground and Swords Castle Marquee madness Main Street Stage all from 12pm as well as Living history in the Castle with a traditional market fayre.
6pm- 10pm will see Swords blasted with top class music headlined by Interskalactic.

Sunday 23rd
The prestigious Fingal 10k takes place and over 4000 runners will race through Swords north finishing outside Swords Castle. This will be followed by a huge puppet and magic show at 2pm in the Castle marquee.
Speaking about the festival Paul Reid, Chief Executive of Fingal County Council said “Following on from last year’s amazingly successful event I am really looking forward to this year’s expanded festival. Events such as this are a great opportunity for the Fingal community to come together and enjoy entertainment for all the family, as well as being of huge value to the local economy”
Mayor of Fingal Cllr. Mary McCamley said “This festival offers great entertainment, whether it’s the ever popular bouncy castles and puppet show to keep the children happy or the excellent music, food fare and living history for adults, there is something for every taste. I would encourage everyone to come along”
