Question: Councillor J. Newman:
“To ask the Chief Executive if he will make representation to Bus Eireann to endeavour to have a bus service
provided to the Knocksedan Estate for schoolchildren. Would he also contact Dublin Bus to ask that they provide
the necessary resources to provide a service to the same estate?”
Reply:
The Operations Department has engaged regularly with both Dublin Bus and Bus Éireann in relation to
representations regarding the above. A review of school bus services at Knocksedan was also referred to Bus
Éireann in February 2013.
While further representations can be made to both providers, it should be acknowledged that the situation at
Knocksedan has not changed regarding a large vehicle entering and exiting the estate which the bus companies
previously stated prohibited them from providing a bus service there.
The residents of Knocksedan have recently had discussions with the developer of Phase 2 of the estate with a
view to having a turning/set down area provided in the estate to access a bus. Discussions are taking place with
Dublin Bus in this regard and we will contact Bus Eireann in relation to the provision of a school bus service
