Swords Castle Digging History
Fingal Community Archaeologist, Christine Baker, will be leading volunteers from Friday 19th August in Fingal’s community archaeology project Swords Castle: Digging History. The best surviving example of a Dublin archbishop’s palace, and an important administrative centre, and we hope to find out if there a graveyard underneath the castle, if there were buildings within the yard and how old the different buildings are.
You can volunteer to take part (once you’re over 18 years of age) or drop into the Castle during Heritage Week to find out more about the Castle and the project.
