Success in having Swords Town Core designated an Architectural Conservation Area

I was successful in getting a core area protected through the insertion of a designated Architectural Conservation Area (ACA) in Swords. I welcomed the recent €50,000 in funding for the conservation work to be carried out at St. Columba’s Church.

The people of Swords recognise and are proud of the heritage of their town. Swords is undoubtedly an ancient site with an abundance of monumental architecture and no shortage of heritage sites that can successfully restored. The fact that there was no mention of this reality by way of an ACA designation just was not acceptable.
